Full Day in Lima – Part II

Getting a cab in Lima isn’t an easy proposition. Essentially everyone is a cab driver, just looking for a couple extra bucks. So you have to be a little particular with the cab you take as there are numerous that will rob you. And there are always stories of someone jumping in the cab with you to rob you. So we had a fairly good set up, being three very tall (by Peruvian standards) guys, one at each of the doors and took one that looked reputable. We got down to LarcoMar a mall built into the cliff overlooking the ocean. We went to La Lucha in the foodcourt for lunch. The sandwiches were delectable.

And the mall overlooks the ocean and there were many paragliders soaring overhead.

From the mall at dinner we wandered down the Miraflores Malacon and worked down the roadway to the beach.

We wandered down onto the pier to the La Rosa Nautica and had a pisco sour out over the ocean. It was like a lime margarita with froth on it.

And the night views of the city were great.

We got picked up by Dave’s co-worker and him, his boyfriend, and two other girls took us out for some traditional dinner at Pardos Chicken for Pardos Parrilleros (Peruvian fried chicken), Antichucho de Corazon (pieces of beef heart), and Chicha Morada (literally purple drink) that is made from slightly fermented purple corn. It was all really good, and I had more of the heart than Mike or Dave.

From there we went down pizza street, where everyone was trying to give us free drinks to get us their bar. We went down to an english pub and had a beer and a shot of pisco before hopping a cab back to our hotel where Rox, Nathan and Tyson were there to meet us.
